English is the foundation, which allows our students to access the whole of the curriculum and life.
Through focussed English lessons we aim to teach: ·
The English curriculum path has been tailored to build on students prior understanding and is individualised to each of their needs, while following the National Curriculum. Key Stage 3 The Key Stage 3 curriculum is created to spark and inspire a joy for reading. Creating a love for learning through a personalised curriculum. Students will be reading texts, from a range of authors, which are selected by their English teacher. By choosing a text it allows teachers to choose topics that students will enjoy and promote a love for English.
Key Stage 4 students follow a personalised curriculum path to continue practicing and improving their writing, reading, speaking and listening. Students work towards a qualification.

‘teachers should teach the knowledge, skills and understanding in ways that suit their pupils’ abilities. This may mean choosing knowledge, skills and understanding from earlier or later key stages so that individual pupils can make progress and show what they can achieve. Where it is appropriate for pupils to make extensive use of content from an earlier key stage, there may not be time to teach all aspects of the age-related programmes of study.’
