All governors appointed in accordance with governing body guidelines.
I became a Governor in September 2015. Before that I was an ‘Observer’ on the Governing Bodies for six years. It is really important to me as the Head Teacher that Governors are an integral part of Broadfield ‘School Life’. One of my most enjoyable roles of being a Governor is to appoint new staff - both teaching and non-teaching. I was recently asked what makes Broadfield so unique - I replied without hesitation “definitely our students”.
I was Born in Denmark and settled in UK in 1992. My early career was in the NHS as a Sister in Intensive Care, I have been director of Wonderful Things Ltd. My role now is Dean of Higher Education at Nelson and Colne college group. I have been a Governor of a local Primary School. I am current Vice Chair of the Education & Training Consortium with Huddersfield University. I have a strong interest in education and health inequalities research.
I am a fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management, hold a Masters Degree in Business Administration and Coaching and Mentoring Level 7, awarded by the Chartered Management Institute. I run my own social care management consultancy, providing support and guidance to social care providers. I am passionate about high quality care and support services that put the person at the centre of the service along with person-centred leadership that treats people equally and creates a supportive learning environment enabling people to thrive and achieve their full potential.
I have a business background and have most recently worked as a service coordinator for a major home improvement company. I am excited to have the opportunity to be a parent governor here at Broadfield school and I am looking forward to being more involved with the school. I am also a Governor at Holly Grove Primary School.
My career has predominantly been administration within the NHS. I currently work in the School Office which is very varied, no two days are the same, but my favourite part of the job is unquestionably seeing the wonderful students in our school community.
Being a parent of a special needs child enables me to make a difference by providing a voice for the families of our children here at school. I feel my part as a Governor is to ensure that all our students fulfil their potential and become the best they possibly can. I feel privileged to be given this opportunity to serve on the Governing Body and look forward to developing my knowledge and skills further and making a positive contribution.
I have been working at Broadfield Specialist School for 4 years now.
I currently work in Rocksteady has a HLTA, where we provide a safe nurturing environment for the children that attend.
I love my role at Broadfield School and feel that being a staff governor will be an honour, I feel privileged to have been chosen for this role.
I worked at Broadfield School for 16 years before my retirement in 2021. My role as Parent Liaison has been extremely rewarding for me personally as well as providing a vital link between the school and parents, supporting families during some of the most challenging situations. I can say first hand that Broadfield School provides excellent care and support, encouraging students to achieve their full potential. I feel my experience within the school has given me the knowledge to be able to make positive contributions to the governing body in supporting the school’s aims and objectives.
I studied at Burnley Municipal College on day release, and also attended evening classes. I gained a Craftsman Certificate and Diploma awarded by the Institute of Meat. I formed my own Company in the meat industry and directed it successfully for 49 years until my retirement. Throughout my adult life as a Freemason, Rotarian and independently I endeavour to make a difference to those who are disadvantaged through no fault of their own. I see the Governor's appointment as a Privilege and a challenge.
