At Broadfield College, our Enterprise programme is a vibrant and purposeful part of college life, giving learners the opportunity to develop real business skills in a hands-on, supportive environment.
All items sold through our enterprise activities are made by our students, ensuring every product reflects their creativity, effort, and growing skillset. The money raised is reinvested directly back into the college, benefitting learners through rewards trips, new equipment, engaging Friday Activities, cooking lessons, resources for their lessons, and access to a well-stocked kitchen for breakfast and break times. This creates a meaningful cycle where students can see the direct impact of their work on their own college experience.
Throughout the year, learners take part in a range of enterprise opportunities. We run seasonal pop-up shops for key celebrations such as Mothering Sunday, Father’s Day, Christmas, and Eid, as well as hosting stalls at events like the Easter Fayre. Students also contribute to the college community by preparing staff lunches, running the school’s tuck shop, and managing the Broadfield College Kiosk at Scott Park in Burnley (link below).
The Enterprise programme at Broadfield College is more than just selling products, it’s about developing practical life and work skills, encouraging teamwork, and giving students a real sense of purpose. By taking ownership of their work and seeing the rewards reinvested into their environment, learners gain valuable experience that prepares them for future opportunities.
