Friends of Broadfield works in partnership, alongside school, to support and enhance opportunities for our students.  We encourage parents, carers, students, staff and members of our local community, to support us on our quest with all our fundraising activities.  This could be by donating, volunteering or supporting events that Friends of Broadfield organise.

Friends of Broadfield holds regular meetings in order to plan, review and deliver any fundraising opportunities for the school.  Meetings are advertised via text to parents and on our school website.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend our meetings and contact school with any fundraising ideas. Our aim is to enrich our students’ lives.

Stephen Mills – Chair of Friends of Broadfield.

I have now been at Broadfield School for a decade.  I started as a TA and am now a member of our fantastic teaching staff.  I am the head of music and also form tutor in Key Stage 5.  Over the years I have been heavily involved with the school band and music is my passion.

I am married and have two amazing children, Solomon and Edie-Rose.  I am originally from Blackburn and used to live on Highfield Close, Oswaldtwistle, next to the school, so as a child so I grew up in the local area.  In my spare time, I enjoy playing music and I also love sport, particularly football and rugby.

I was nominated as ‘Chair’ in early 2018.  It is a great honour to be the chairperson of the Friends of Broadfield.  I feel very passionate about SEN students and the positive impact that we can have on their lives.  I grew up with deaf parents so it is something that is close to my heart.  Being a member of Friends of Broadfield is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the future development of our outstanding school.

Mrs Beverley Bury – Treasurer for Friends of Broadfield 

I was born and raised in the local area and still live close to Broadfield School!  I am married, and the proud mother of three children, two stepchildren and six grandchildren who fill my days with joy. I enjoy precious time spent with my husband on our annual Greek holiday, and getting together socially with my family whenever possible, throughout the year.

I started work as a teaching assistant at Broadfield Specialist School in September 1997! Over the last twenty-one years, I have seen lots of positive changes during my commitment to Broadfield Specialist School, I have watched the school excel and continue to be a shining example of special needs education.

I was proud to be considered for the post of treasurer and the responsibility this brings.  Also within my role of Extended Services, I can monitor and supervise any upcoming activities or fundraising opportunities, to further promote and enhance ‘Friends of Broadfield’!
