‘Friends of Broadfield’ is a registered charity that works to raise funds to help Broadfield Specialist School provide those ‘extras’ that the school budget cannot provide for. Our leavers had their Prom Night on Thursday 6th July in school. Everybody arrived looking fantastic and had their photographs taken in our sensory garden as a reminder of the evening. After a buffet meal our school band performed and the students enjoyed a disco. What a fantastic night that we will all remember for a long time!
Tuesday, 23rd May, was the opening of McKellen’s exhibition at Haworth Art Gallery, Accrington. The students have produced some amazing work in the style of Vincent van Gogh, the artist they have been studying for their Arts Award Discovery accreditation. Our school band recently took part in the Annual Schools Music Festival which is organised by the Rotary Club of Accrington. The Rotary invited our Music Teacher, Mrs. Mills, and one of the band members to a celebration lunch at The Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton-le-Moors. After lunch the Rotary Club presented school with a cheque for £100 as a thank you for taking part! Well more »

We are pleased to advise that school will re-open tomorrow Friday 24th March as the heating and gas leak have now been repaired.
School celebrated World Book Day by inviting students to come to school dressed as their favourite literary character. Lots of different activities were organised including a book quiz, story through dance, drama workshop, Shakespeare workshop, sensory art, multi-cultural stories and animation. The students really enjoyed their day!
On Thursday 23rd March staff member Helen Topping attended a Fun Chinese Cooking course at Prince Henry’s school in Otley. As well as learning all about the differences in cuisine dependant on region she was able to watch several demonstrations by a Chinese Chef. Our School Band will feature in the Rotary Club ‘Hyndburn Schools’ 26th Annual Celebration Of Music’ at Oswaldtwistle Civic Hall on Wednesday 8th March at 7.00pm. Over the coming weeks, class 3.4 will be taking their Shakespearean play – The Tempest – on tour around local schools. Their aim is to raise awareness about what children with SEN can achieve through hard work, self-belief and determination.
