Broadfield has experienced our very first College Open day and it was a massive success! Many year 11 parents came to visit our College and find out what it has to offer. ‘Friends of Broadfield’ is a registered charity that works to raise funds to help Broadfield Specialist School provide those ‘extras’ that the school budget cannot provide for. On 10th November Macy Jade Boutique will be holding a Ladies evening at Oswaldtwistle Conservative Club on Rhyddings Street. The money taken on the door and the raffle will be donated to our school to help fund our school minibuses. Lancashire Adult Learning are offering FREE Maths and English courses at Mount Carmel RC High School, Wordsworth Road, Accrington, BB5 OLU. Classes were able to take part in a variety of activities including quizzes, songs and games to celebrate European Day of Language. Some classes chose to incorporate it into other subjects. Class 4L built models of the Eiffel tower using duplo as part of their topic on buildings. Class 3HL researched capital cities of Europe during their Computing class. Wednesday 27th September was Election Day at Broadfield. The students had to vote in their class representatives, president and vice president of the Student Council. On the morning of the elections, one by one, the pupils entered the school library, now converted into a polling station, complete with a table for the election staff, a waiting area, a polling booth and a ballot box. more »
Broadfield held a coffee morning on Friday 29th September. Parents and students joined us for cake and a tea or coffee to support the McMillan Nurses. We managed to raise £451 for this fantastic cause. Thank you to all who supported us!
As part of our Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship education curriculum, we had some special visitors join us on Friday 15th September! M & M Productions were invited to come into school and deliver an outstanding assembly based on anti-bullying. This was followed by a tutorial which led to some fantastic poems, stories and anti-bullying posters which were shared in our afternoon assembly. Period more »
On Tuesday 18th July we held our school’s sports day! All students participated in a carousel of different sporting events in the morning such as javelin, shot put, long jump and penalty shoot out which was then followed by various races in the afternoon which included sprint, hurdles, egg & spoon and staff races.
