On 05/03/18 two of our pupils accessed the “Women Who Wander” project funded by Community Rail Lancashire. The young women engaged with the working life of the railways, travelling to and from Blackburn, speaking to a number of female employees and ultimately gaining an understanding of the lack of female employees within the network.
Soon after the visit, both Libbie and Charlotte wrote short poems on their experiences and suggested different ways in which they felt the railway network could be improved. Over one hundred pupils from different schools and universities across the North West entered their work into the competition. With great pride, we can announce that BOTH entries from Broadfield were selected as winners!
The girls were invited to read these out in a very busy Victoria station, won lots of goodies and received VIP treatment. Well done Charlotte and Libbie!
