Broadfield remembers the “International Day for the Abolition of Slavery:

Early in the December the school remembered the “International Day for the Abolition of Slavery”. Classes did various activities to understand what slavery was in the past, along with understanding modern forms of slavery. Some classes looked at the UN Charter and the key people who fought to remove the slave trade and make people understand that slavery is both cruel and wrong.

Besides race, pupils also looked at slavery within society caused by poverty by watching films such as Oliver Twist, the Gladiator and Ben Hur.
